Simultaneous

Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting or simultaneous translation is a method of translation which involves the speaker and the interpreter. The speaker makes a speech while the interpreter converts the speech into the language the audience understands at the same time or in real time. It is the job of the interpreter to deliver the intent and context of the message the speaker wants to project including the tone.

Oftentimes, the interpreter is confined in a soundproof booth and is equipped with headphones and other devices that are capable of canceling background noise and screen other environmental elements which cause distraction. A microphone is also used by the interpreter to communicate the translated speech in large event settings.

When Will You Need Simultaneous Interpreting?

This mode of interpreting is commonly used at the following events:

  • Presidential speeches
  • United Nations
  • The Olympics or other sport related large events
  • Large international conferences attended by delegates
  • Live television broadcasts
  • Voice overs for audio recordings, movies, documentaries
  • Press conference
  • Seminars with big audiences
  • Guided travel tours
  • Religious gatherings

What is the Importance of Simultaneous Interpreting?

In simultaneous interpreting the audience is given equal opportunity to listen to the speech in their mother tongue as it crosses the language barrier. It saves time as this method of interpreting is done simultaneously, avoiding time-consuming tasks of document translation. No message gets lost and the flow of delivery does not change as interpreting happens at the same time. A high level of accuracy is assured as the interpreter instantly relays the message

How Does Your Business Benefit from Simultaneous Interpreting?

Business owners who utilize the simultaneous interpreting services have a higher chance to close deals during a business presentation versus those who do not present business proposals in the language of the audience.

Simultaneous interpretation strengthens the relationship between you and your business partners and investors. This method also allows your company to cover important details and needs using the language your business clients comfortably use.

Ambiguity, confusion, and misunderstanding between parties can be avoided when using simultaneous interpreting during a multicultural meeting. It’s a great way to make your partners feel comfortable and valued which is essential in gaining their trust.
